Our Thatcham S5 Plus combines S5 tracking and driver recognition with “No Tag, No Start” immobilisation. It adds protection against unauthorised starting as well as tracking support if the vehicle is moved. The standard package costs £449 fitted, plus £10.99/month monitoring.
What does S5 Plus add?
Standard S5 tracking uses Automatic Driver Recognition to help identify movement without an authorised tag. Our S5 Plus package adds tag-based start protection: the authorised tag must be present for the vehicle to start.
Tracking and immobilisation serve different purposes. Tracking helps locate a vehicle; immobilisation helps prevent an unauthorised start. Neither guarantees that theft cannot happen, and no recovery time is guaranteed.

The EV/Hybrid package uses CAN-based PIN protection. Confirm compatibility with your exact make, model and year before ordering. The two packages should not be described as having the same start-authorisation method.
Which tracking technologies are included?
Our products describe 4G GPS tracking. Do not assume that the words “S5 Plus” mean a device includes VHF radio, a mesh recovery network, or an ability to track through every building or container. Those are model-specific capabilities and must be supported by the particular manufacturer's specification.
S5 and S7 are categories listed by Thatcham Research. “S5 Plus” describes our S5 package with added immobilisation; it is not a separate S5 Plus category in that published list.
Monitoring and the cost of ownership
Monitoring is £10.99/month separately. On the monthly option, the first month is paid at checkout, bringing the standard S5 Plus checkout total to £459.99. Subsequent payments are arranged separately. Twelve months of monitoring cost £131.88, so the standard package totals £580.88 for the first year at current prices.
You can select a prepaid period instead. The current prepaid rate is equivalent to £10.99/month, without a prepayment discount.

What happens after you order?
Provide the vehicle information and preferred fitting dates in the product form. We contact you to agree the appointment; the dates you select are preferences rather than a confirmed booking. Following fitting and activation, your digital certificate is available through the service. Share it with your insurer as requested.
Keep driver tags secure outside the parked vehicle and follow the handover instructions. PIN users should keep their code private. Use the approved servicing or emergency procedure if authorisation fails; do not attempt to alter the installation yourself.
